While on duty, Deimos wears the crimson coveralls of a Hound, modified to a slightly loose cut for his personal comfort. The trouser legs are tucked into sturdy, knee-high boots in a matching color.

Deimos is authorized to have one belt pouch on his Hound uniform as a place to store data collection devices for certain missions.

Hasso Voll grew up resenting the absent authority figure, who decides men's day-to-day fates without ever once experiencing the conditions in which they operate. He spent far too much of his formative years securing loads on the deck of a freighter, or perhaps in the bowels of the hold.

In his adolescence, he found his natural ability to gather and shape darkness. His peers and mentors encouraged him to keep these abilities secret -- not out of fear or shame, but to prevent those who hire the ship from trying to exploit him.

It was natural, even logical, to use his abilities in certain ports to gain luxuries. Some "unnecessary expenses" made a long voyage more survivable. Others simply made them more pleasant.

Hasso envied the comfortable lives of those who grew up on land.

When he found himself between long-term contracts as a young adult, Hasso decided to audition for one of these new-fangled Metahuman Hireling positions. It went well; he turned that success into a reference for another job, and another, until he had a steady reputation as a villain's underling. In the process, he learned a wide variety of techniques for stealth, for approaching a guard or a busybody from an unexpected direction. He learned a new set of tactics suitable to a fight where all participants may have metahuman abilities of their own. He learned the value of disrupting the other side's practiced maneuvers, of being where he was not expected.

Deimos is fairly good at sowing terror among the adversaries.

And when they try to close in on him, they gain the additional terror of being shoved away by the very darkness that surrounds him.

Hasso Voll is an only child, born aboard a cargo ship and raised by the crew. He is quite confident that he had no agemates in his extended family of origin.

The existence of Elegast disquiets Hasso.

The two men take exquisite care to only address or refer to one another by the names given them as Hounds.
