A young noble who was exiled and stripped of his estate for treason and conspiracy to commit murder, left only with his pride, his mind, and his sword arm.
Timur was raised in luxury, the firstborn son of a wealthy noble named Umar. Taught how to handle a sword, ride a horse, and take care of the estate, Timur was groomed throughout his childhood to eventually take over as the lord of his family’s land. Born into privilege, he had little idea of the struggle the commoners faced on a daily basis, under the rule of Achaemen’s current emperor, Muhar Thrakul.
His father, however, did. Convening with a group of upper middle class individuals, with bought offices or money from being merchants, as well as a small number of nobles who were pro-Ahmed, his father and others periodically met to discuss means to depose Muhar. The upper middle class were upset by the heavy taxation, unprotected by privileges unlike the nobility. Meanwhile, Umar and a small number of like minded nobles were against Muhar from a moral standpoint, fearing that his paranoid tyranny would eventually reach them too. They called themselves, “The People’s Assembly.”
However, it was a short lived alliance. Within a few months, the secret police were tipped off to the existence of the rebellious group. Kicking down the doors of the coffeehouse that the Assembly made their home, almost all of the men present were arrested. Umar and the other nobles present were stripped of their titles and executed.
Muhar did not stop there. He couldn’t afford to let any dissent still exist, ill-perceived as it may have been. So it was that Timur was separated from his estate and family, exiled to Jhanin for the crime of treason and conspiracy to commit murder.
