"Adopted" son of Baroness Serina Caddel (AKA The Bloody Baroness of Bahet)

The beginning of Jariah’s story is much like others. He was born in a small village, his parents a full blooded elf father and his mother a human. Not important for he can't remember anything about them. However Baroness Sirina Caddel had conducted a search for a new heir to her lineage for many years, unable to find a suitable heir until one of her scouts found Jariah. He snatched him and took him to the rich city state of Bahet a city residing in a dusk mantle that grew fluorescent plants and had a population mostly consisting of Drow, exiled humans, Elves, Dwarves, and even Fiends that managed to find their way to the material plane. The city of Bahet itself had few but extremely lucrative main exports mostly consisting of the variable plant life that Bahet grew by the orders of their leader. The flora mostly consisted of luminescent flowers, fungi, gourdplants, and Luurden. The kingdom housed a huge underground cave system which the people of Bahet use as their homes and continuations of the city spanning for miles on end. The Baroness was known for her openness to any and all races, which the people of Bahet adored the noble family for. The people of Bahet were loyal to their Baroness if at worst indifferent. The most hostilities that arose were that of gangs and various cults, none of which had a hostile intent toward the Caddel family but with other factions of Bahet. Sirina being a master diplomat and ambassador was able to quell the tension rising in Bahet via various donations and funding towards the factions using them as peacekeepers within the city. Mercenaries may have cost more than a reliable guard faction however it made the people feel as free as they could whilst in Bahet. Jariah in his “youth” attended several events of noble recognition including a gala event where Jariah met the Vampire Queen herself. A fact which left him with a new sense of importance and responsibility if also not a first crush. The following years gave him a sense of purpose and a steadfast loyalty to his Queen. He focused on his social practices going with his mother on diplomatic missions and maintaining order inside of Bahet. One fateful day a group of hooded assassins managed to gain the upper hand of the vampiric family and tore through castle Caddel setting it ablaze wherever they could, burning the plants and killing the servants of the castle until they reached their target Baroness Sirina Caddel. There they ganged up and beat the Baroness mercilessly, drowning her in holy water and beheading her. Jariah was beaten within an inch of his unlife however, one of the hooded figures decided to hang him off the highest tower with a rope enchanted by their divine god for all of Bahet to see. As his life began burning away from him a black three eyed owl found his way to Jariah and tore an eye from the man holding the rope and let Jariah fall just enough to be able to escape from his bonds and turn to mist and live to fight another day. One surviving retainer of house Caddel found Lord Jariah and let him rest until they were both strong enough to return to the halls of Castle Caddel. The retainer an older drow named Ilidan Vrough who was formerly the main steward of the house now the only surviving staff member. Together they walked through the desecrated halls with woeful demeanors. They found a pile of ashes with a burned stake in the middle in the Baronesses bedchambers. For the next 10 years Lord Jariah attempted to track and kill the hooded assassins but only could find a name of this cult, The Order of the Staked Heart. A ghost story in the vampiric community supposedly, a dangerous group of paladins and clerics that the mortal kind managed to sneak past the Maelstrom into the lands of the eternal. This may have been one of the first attacks of many. As his chase grew closer, his city started to suffer, more conflict, less food, less income, and a drought of exports. With the help of Ilidan he stopped his search and decided to focus on keeping the city state alive and well for the memory of his mother. The owl found it's way in Jariahs trust and together they formed a bond and started to rely on one another especially for traveling outside of Bahet. Currently the foundation of the Caddel household is still in ruins and not the beauty it once was, with the dedication of Ilidan there is always at least one person taking care of the homestead. Jariah himself is focusing on gaining allies and forming strong connections throughout the world to aid him in the rebuilding of Castle Caddel and the continuation of the city state of Bahet.
