A proud man borne from the Luminaric Isles, believed to be the mortal avatar of Valduren the Stormbringer.
Born under an auspicious star and a chaotic storm, Kahurangi was so named for his seemingly blessed lineage- Half man, half air elemental. Many worship the God of Storms in the isles simply in the hopes of safe passage on the seas, and the boy that was called the Gift of the Skies was seen as the boon of those prayers.

Appearance
Physical Description
Lithe and dexterous, Kahurangi would best be described as 'aerodynamic.' While not obviously built for throwing a solid punch, his dedication to his particular form is evident in his tightly sharpened musculature as just a different form of strength.
Body Features
His bright blue skin tone marks his heritage at a glance, even to the point that it's often hard to tell there's any human left under the obvious Sylphic visage. On top of this, his white ceremonial tattoos plastering him from head to toe are clearly indicative of his perceived role as a religious icon in his culture.
Facial Features
Kahurangi's bright white hair is carefully styled and framed in such a way to avoid being blown and blustered about in high winds. Similarly with his sharp beard and twisted mustache, all the hair on his head has been precisely manufactured to look impressive in the most extreme weather.
Identifying Characteristics
Besides distinctive hair styling, Kahurangi's eyes mark him in a unique fashion. On closer inspection, they seem to crackle and spark with radiant power. This is especially true when he acts as a vessel for the elements, his eyes then glowing and emitting raw power as if portals for the energy themselves.
Physical quirks
Kahurangi holds himself in high esteem, and that is never clearer than when people realize he doesn't touch the ground without very, very good reason. Outside of sleep or diplomatic politeness, the Storm's Avatar is constantly buffeting himself just slightly aloft from the earth and propelling himself on slight breezes.
Apparel & Accessories
He is adorned in what mainlanders would likely describe as 'tribal' clothing, but that he and his people would describe as honored vestments. Carefully detailed in true gold inlaid into pure white robes, as well as a brilliant cloak over one shoulder that catches the winds perpetually surrounding him, display a regal form.
Mentality
Personal history
Kahurangi was so named for his seemingly miraculous birth, a heavy storm destroying the home of his parents with a sudden strike of lightning the moment he came into the world. The house burned, then turned to smoke, then to ash. The sky cleared soon after, and the child within was sheltered in what appeared to be a shield of water. The child was a brilliant azure, with piercing yellow eyes even then. Now, his parents were both perfectly human according to everyone else's knowledge, and to claim his mother had him by anyone but her husband would be an insult to her memory. The only socially acceptable explanation then was that he had been touched by the Stormbringer himself- That the lightning strike was the God of Storms personally laying a finger upon this child and marking him as the deity's mortal vessel.
So that was how the boy was raised. Kahurangi- The Gift of the Sky- Was taught that he had a great destiny. That he was the mortal form of an almighty god, that the waves and winds themselves would bend to his command. What were the odds that they actually would? As he aged, Kahurangi attained a preternatural control over the elements of sky and sea. His first flight was a major event, taking wing on the very air itself and adapting to such an unusual state as if it were what he was born to be. In fact, many elders in his society who initially took the 'avatar of the storm' tact to protect his mother's honour even began to believe it themselves.
He has barely laid foot on the ground since, literally or metaphorically, for why should a god hold humility?
Personality
Motivation
Kahurangi is an Isleman at heart, dedicated to the sea and his people. The opportunity to explore and float where the wind takes him is too good to pass up, and getting to unleash some pent up anger on anyone but his own followers is pretty good too.
Virtues & Personality perks
- Bravery. Whether misplaced or not, Kahurangi is fully under the belief that he is a god in mortal flesh. He understands as a result that he isn't immortal, but firmly believes that he'll always have the power to overcome a threat.
- Supportive. Despite his pride and haughty nature, he is able and willing to aid those he considers allies with healing and positioning abilities.
Vices & Personality flaws
- Pride. Hand-in-hand with bravery, Kahurangi is absolutely wracked with pride. He always holds himself above others, even to his own detriment. His ability to escape repercussions and strike back harder makes this difficult to punish, though many have tried and will continue to do so.
- Sloth. Why use many blasts when big blast do trick? Kahurangi would rather solve a problem quickly than efficiently, and with as little physical labour on his part as possible.
