Once again Vulcrom provides a series of spectacles, although this one is far more domestic than the technological and arcane marvels that it provides on a daily basis. Cascade, the guard captain, managed to find someone in need of a crew member. His name is Bo, an orange Tabaxi who has taken a mild fancy to Cascade. He seemed to be quite stunned when I informed him that he was being courted by the young feline fellow, though that is not all that suprising given the fact that Cascade is not the quickest at picking up clues (much to the detriment of the people he looks over.) Bo wanted me to assist him in recruiting other people to serve aboard the ship. This is task that I am more than proficient with; people are quite easy to understand once you get talking to them. One man told me that the only true way to understand someone is to fight them because in this situation they are unable to lie, but I find that learning what people are willing to lie about is far more important than anything else.
The topic of lies brings me onto the topic of my new captain. A half-elf who calls herself Sanna. She caught my attention when she reprimanded Bud, another new hire, for being vague about where his experience with flight originated. It seemed to me that he was enjoying being the center of attention in that moment, which was then cut short as our new and most gracious captain told us that keeping secrets is a forbidden act aboard this vessel. An interesting statement from a woman that we know nothing about. It seems that secrets are a sensitive topic for her. I find that people deserve the right keep their secrets and someone who demands that everyone bare their soul to their coworkers is going to be worth observing as time progresses.
The route is simple. We are stocking up at various stops along the way to Spirithaven, and attempting to pick up some form of cargo in Fodon. We could have picked some up in Vulcrom but the original crew seemed to want to put as much distance between them and that city as possible. I do hope that Cascade hasn't placed me alongside individuals with less than favorable ties, though I wouldn't be suprised. I suppose that if I find myself with a blade in my back then I can assume that he has.
I was able to see Kurtlemath battling with the guardian of The Regencies along the way. It was truly a spectacle! Two powerful entities battling for no reason other than rivalry, I wouldn't have believed that anything could have spoiled the moment, until Bo opened his mouth and began to complain about the rain, the wind, the sky, the dragons, and Vulcrom. I don't particularly care to hear about the complaints of people who only complain as a substitute for any real understanding of a situation, and when I pointed out the flaws in his fears he merely told me "welcome to my life" which ultimately says to me "My most compelling argument to put forward is that my life is badly structured." I realise now that I'm writing this that I don't really remember much about the dragons, but instead my memory of the moment is filled with the whining of a wet tabaxi.
"The world wasn't built upon the complaints of fools."
