Card meaning:
Typically it implies an end, possibly of a relationship or interest, and therefore implies an increased sense of self-awareness.
Entry:
I guess it makes sense I got this card today. Three years ago Evelyn went missing and left me to protect her books. And more importantly, I first met Evelyn about 13 years ago, at age 13. I suppose it's ironic that she left on our ten-year "anniversary", or whatever. It all started with a stupid book and I guess a stupid, angry teen. I don't often think of the old days, when I was trapped in my own personal hell in Austin, TX. Getting into trouble shoplifting and skipping school. I am lucky that Evelyn found me before some gang did. I wandered downtown storefronts looking for something that would catch my eye. I already was taking things without asking, learning that I had a knack for lifting wallets and for taking things I wanted. Especially books, I don't know what it was I liked about old, bound books, but they always made me feel safe and the dopamine from taking something that a so-called witch finds precious, just brings a great rush. That's what I saw in the old storefront where Evelyn's shop was first set up, before the eventual office. An old book, bound in what was probably leather, but kind of looked like human skin.
I slipped into the shop where she was talking with a hippie type about some rock or whatever. I walked in with a large group of ladies, that were looking for someone to read their palms. The book was sitting up for display at the window, there wasn't any price tag. I didn't touch the book yet. I wandered around looking at the boho chic shit; when the other women swarmed the counter with their purchases I slid the book into my bag and grabbed the first thing I saw. I set some rock on the counter and pulled out a few bills for it; the woman smiled at me.
"Ooooh amethyst, a good choice." She says taking the money. "Would you like a bag?" I shook my head and left. Back out on the street, I strolled away.
Two weeks later I saw the same woman waiting for me outside of my high school. She smiled at me and offered me a job. I guess one mistake changed everything for me, and now here I am; on my way over to see Melvin and Krystal; Krystal promised me a hot shower and a free meal if I teach her self-defense. Strange how my life turned out, wonder what's going to come next.
