001 The Cracked Flagon

by Lady Medea Delphi

-I had finally made it, I had finally gotten to "The Cracked Flagon" (odd name, but no one will be looking for me here). I found a nice seat in the corner, keeping my hood up I surveyed the room. I kept an eye on the guards in the Inn, hoping they didn't notice me as I tried to calm myself by doing a tarot reading.
-I looked up again from the cards to notice an elf sitting down the way from me, her eyes glued to a Halfling sitting at the bar near an inebriated Tiefling.
-Suddenly a scholar from the Imperium Academia (IA) showed up and walked over to the bar striking up a conversation with the Tiefling. I could not hear what they were saying but the Scholar looking like he was trying to be very friendly ... The Tiefling was quite ... not.
-I giant thrashing sound came from the basement and the scholar and the Tiefling headed for the stairs. I looked up at the guards to see if they would possibly go and assist but they did not move from their table. Then they got up and moved to leave.
-The Elf still eyes fixed on the Halfling at the bar moved to the bar next to the Halfling who was clearly very drunk but something else. For some reason, the whole thing did not feel right to me. The Elf muttered, "You stole my paintbrush" to the halfling and then picked him up under there arm and started for the door.
-I spoke up stopping the elf and asked if their friend was alright. They said that it didn't matter ... he would be dinner in a few moments.
-That made me pause, concerned that the poor guy had been poisoned I cast shape water and attempted to extract the poison or alcohol from his system in the hope that he would feel better. Well... let's just say that dehydration can occur in those cases. --Luckily the scholar and Tiefling returned at this point accompanied by a Tortle. The scholar noticing that I was trying to stop her, tried to talk to the Elf in Elvish
-she finally threw the poor Halfling down on one of the tables. I quickly went over and cast Create and destroy water to rehydrate the halfling and stabilize him.
-The Tortle and Tiefling both looked at me and shook their head. The Tiefling stated that I might be in trouble for that, I told them I was a Cleric of Hecate and it would be fine.
-The Tavern owned disappeared into the back.
-The Tiefling asked if I had any type of insurance policy for that ... (I quickly flashed him my pedigree (just enough for him to know I was nobility).
-The Elf and Human sat and talked for a few minutes the Tortle was energetic and freaked out about something going on about magic and how we should probably leave.
-The Tavern owner was spouting about magic, the Tortal was pointing at me. I rolled my eyes and went over to the bar placed my pedigree and two gold coins on the table, he swiped the coins and stated "not you... Her." pointing to the Elf then called her a "Demon".
-The Tiefling then began speaking to the elf in Abyssal to the elf and she began to reply. The Tiefling mentioned the word "Windigo" and the Tortle and Scholar freaked out. Suddenly for a flicker of time, I saw the true form of the creature a giant antlered monster, pale and boney.
-I mentioned that we should probably get the heck out of here which most agreed.
-The Guards had returned and were blocking the exit though. The lights flickered and the elf and the guards were gone all that was left was us the halfling and the owner.
-On the table was the Ring of Xray Vision, The Tortle saw the ring and instantly began to run towards it claiming it as her own.
-The scholar decided that we needed to go to the library in order to get further info about the windigo and the town. I was leery about heading into the noble side of town where there would be more guards and less ways for me to hide.
