A Different Beginning

by Genesis

...Genesis stood in front of the long bookshelf. For the 15th time that evening she had rearranged the books, cleaned the imaginary dust away and just read more books. She was used to the silence of the conservatory by now, however it all quickly changed once she heard footsteps coming to the entrance of the conservatory.

Gen walked over to the entrance and waited for the person to walk in. To her surprise and awe, a frost golem known as Fuyuko walked in. Apparently, she was looking for new books, which unfortunately had not arrived yet. The two of them begun to talk causally while Gen was still amazed that a being such as Fuyuko existed. Apon learning that Fuyuko was created only 2 years ago and had taken the time to read all the books in the Conservatory, Gen was very impressed.

Once discovered that there were no new books to be read, Fuyuko planned to leave, taking the opportunity to leave the Conservatory, Gen followed. They roamed around Virk discussing very light topics before ending up with Fuyuko showing Gen her home. Gen, who was very suspicious of snow, was hesitant to go inside at first but was amazed at the craftmanship of the structure once inside.

Time passed and the two left the snow base behind to head to Gen's home. In front of the house, they started talking about Gen wanting to move house. During the conversation, a crow named Flock landed nearby the two. They kept an eye on him out of curiosity but quickly put their guard up once he made an attempt on Fuyuko's Gem. Before this, Gen had watched him down 4 different potions, all looking worse than the other. They remained on guard until Fuyuko was shot with a poison arrow, thankfully she could regenerate herself. After the second arrow hit Fuyuko, they retreated to inside the house.

They waited for Flock to leave but he kept on circling them, waiting, watching for Fuyuko. In an attempt to lose him, they rushed towards the Conservatory for shelter. Once there they remained inside, planning to wait for sunrise. While Fuyuko was looking around, Gen moved into a defensive position on the top of the stairs, a heavy feeling crept up her spine. It was Fukuyo's comment on there been no windows in the Conservatory that woke Gen from her mind. A sense of panic filled her but disappeared once finding windows at the entrance of the Conservatory.

At day break, the two of them left. Heading straight for the port for a ship to Aremore. Fuyuko worried for her girlfriend and Gen didn't wish to see the golem be harmed, even if said golem could nearly kill her in one strike. Arriving at Aremore, a sense of nostalgia filled Gen, the small town she had known had become a beautiful diverse village.

Fuyuko lead the way to her girlfriends' home. A nervous Gen followed behind, her wings twitching as she felt danger nearby. The two of the them dropped down to underneath the bridge her Alice sat beside a bonfire. Once hearing what Flock had done, Gen felt a protective aura appear the women. Said bird had been noticed to be circling warily around the bridge.

As a way to distract Flock from Fukuyo's gem, they used a decoy gem. Gen had crawled up the top of the bridge to watch the exchange happen. Flock, once seeing a clear way to leave, had grabbed the crystal and fled. Only to later return and burn the gem before the 3 of them. Gen silently noted that it could be a sin of a threat towards Fuyuko but said nothing.

With the drama over, Gen went on a tour of Alice's creations and of the town. Both of which she was impressed with. However, her mood plummeted at the sight of the burnt down tree. A dull ache crept into her wings reminding her of memories long forgotten. With the tour ended, Gen decided to return to Virk and to the Conservation. She made a promise to return to Aremore and said goodbye to the people she met.
