Opening Day Operations Log

by Eleonora Addleman

I have decided to continue documenting my progress. Furthermore, I will attempt to be less formal, as I don't plan on this being used in any official capacity, and there are some miscellaneous things I must ̶g̶e̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶c̶h̶e̶s̶t̶ document. It was an eventful opening day, but before I discuss business, I feel the need to recount the uninvited guests I received earlier.

Wanda of all people showed up to my storefront (Had I been at the counter at the time I would have pulled the "security" lever), but alas we talked, for the first time in years, albeit only briefly. Neither of us were keen to talk to each other ̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶.̶.̶.̶.̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶ ̶t̶r̶y̶, just seemed like a “business trip” to her, with a side of her taunting me of course. She of course remarked that what I'm doing is just a foolish attempt to please mother and immediately dismissed all the ̶P̶A̶I̶N̶S̶T̶A̶K̶I̶N̶G̶ ̶effort I put into the place, but I digress: She was correct in this assumption, at least partially. I started this business in the hopes of being recognised by mother, but now, after hearing that, I just want to do well for myself. ̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶r̶u̶b̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶b̶o̶t̶h̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶f̶a̶c̶e̶s̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶r̶s̶e̶,̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶’̶d̶ ̶c̶a̶r̶e̶.̶ By some strange twist of fate, it seems that she’s in league with Celrin’s superior from Trinum, I’m ̶w̶o̶r̶r̶i̶e̶d̶ ̶curious to find out more of what Wanda’s been up, or perhaps I’ll never see her again.

Anyways, time to discuss business.

It felt good to return to my craft again, its been quite a while since I’ve made jewellery like this. Despite my initial rust, I am very satisfied with my performance today. I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention the efforts of Xena. I hired her out of necessity for someone to work the forge to create moulds and such, but she has turned out to be quite the package, so to speak. ̶D̶e̶s̶p̶i̶t̶e̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶u̶n̶u̶s̶u̶a̶l̶ ̶h̶a̶i̶r̶,̶ ̶her work is astounding thus far. She seems both skilled and shows great passion for what she does. Its quite admirable, but I was hesitant to show too much praise on her first day. Regardless, I think the two of us will make a great productive team. ̶ ̶H̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶h̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶v̶e̶r̶y̶ ̶e̶y̶e̶-̶c̶a̶t̶c̶h̶i̶n̶g̶,̶ ̶r̶e̶m̶i̶n̶i̶s̶c̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶r̶o̶s̶e̶-̶q̶u̶a̶r̶t̶z̶.̶

Wren came around some time in the afternoon to commission ̶m̶e̶ us. I was very pleased to serve her as her request was quite intriguing: ̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶I̶ ̶k̶n̶e̶w̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶l̶o̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶g̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶l̶e̶f̶t̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶B̶l̶o̶a̶t̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶j̶o̶b̶:̶ Using the crystals from underneath our premises, I was to fashion a “masculine” amulet with the crystal as the centrepiece. This was no easy task and it took me the better half of the day to successfully harvest the crystals alone, but I was able to do it successfully with my skill. Thankfully, Xena had the mould ready for me when I returned, and we finished the amulet together. It pleased me to see that Wren was satisfied with the results, but the matter of payment remained. This was perhaps my greatest work yet, ̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶I̶ ̶s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶g̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶W̶r̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶d̶i̶s̶c̶o̶u̶n̶t̶ ̶(̶S̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶u̶l̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶c̶a̶r̶d̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶p̶u̶p̶p̶y̶ ̶d̶o̶g̶ ̶e̶y̶e̶s̶)̶.̶ ̶ ̶I̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶h̶o̶p̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶f̶e̶s̶s̶o̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶p̶p̶r̶e̶c̶i̶a̶t̶e̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶2̶0̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶B̶A̶C̶K̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶h̶a̶r̶v̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶m̶n̶ ̶c̶r̶y̶s̶t̶a̶l̶!̶ I charged her 200 gold.

̶T̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶c̶l̶u̶d̶e̶s̶ ̶w̶h̶a̶t̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶i̶s̶.̶ ̶I̶’̶m̶ ̶g̶o̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶o̶ ̶e̶a̶t̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶r̶e̶s̶t̶.̶ End of log.

P.S: Stop wasting precious paper with all the scrawling, IT IS NOT LEGIBLE. Also stop talking about other people like that.
P.P.S: Stop being lazy and come up with a name for the store, or ask someone for ideas...
