The Betrayal

After we rested from the fight with the Orcs, as we were getting ready to leave the Shrine, an interesting fellow showed up. He said his name was Arlin, and he was an Aarakocra. We were, of course, wary of him at first, but he soon proved useful. Apparently the bell in the tower was cast in gold. Arlin flew me up to the bell and I was able to burn away the joints holding it up there. We then had to borrow a cart and horses from Butterskull Ranch to transport the bell back to Phandalin. Once in Phandalin we turned in our quests and took the bell to the miners guild to sell. We spent a "luxurious" night at the inn, and the next morning headed back to Mountain Toe Gold Mine, our new friend Arlin joining us. Once at the Mine we informed the were rats that their shrine was free of orcs and they could return as per our bargain. Not surprisingly, we were informed that they wanted to stay in the mine as they were now "used to it". Of course a battle ensued and Arget was the hero of the day, felling many of the were rats. The leader unfortunately was able to escape, but her pack has been decimated. Our friends Arlin and Ryu were both felled during the battle, but will survive after some rest. Arlin acquitted himself in battle and it is some what pleasant to have another arcane user in the group, even though he is a sorcerer, it will be some one I can have interesting conversations with. What our plans are now, after freeing the mines and leaving Ron-Jon, I am unsure. We have some quests to complete in the area, but we may soon be leaving Phandalin for loftier adventures.
