Travel Log: Day 2

Day 2:
 
We continued our trek westward after eating breakfast and taking down our campground. As we continued forward, the trees seemed to close in on us, making our travel much more difficult, as we were having to navigate around large amounts of foliage. When we thought that we might never get out of the forest, it began to open up into a cleared area of forest. However, our excitement was quickly cut short by the sight of bodies. We had stumbled onto a skirmish between a large clan of Orcs and an army of dwarves. The two armies seemed to be preoccupied with each other, so we decided to take advantage of the chaos and loot some of the bodies nearby. As we searched, a group of dwarven soldiers came running by with a wounded dwarf on a gurney. We almost were seen, but Talia was able to notice them in time and pull me and herself into some nearby bushes. We continued searching them after the soldiers were out of sight. We found an extravagantly decorated shield, most likely carried by a commander of the dwarf army. On the front of the shield was a boar, meaning this shield belonged to the Dargin clan of Dwarves. These dwarves, unlike most other dwarves, lived in the deserts to the east, and must have been coming this way for the ongoing peace negotiations with the Arnac dwarves, who have had a long-standing feud with the Dargin. We also found a silver helmet, which also bore the Dargin's emblem, and 11 silver pieces. Knowing that we wouldn't be able to carry all that we have found over the last few days, we attempted to steal a horse from one of the orcs nearby. I charged forward to draw his attention, as Talia snuck behind him to try and steal two of the horses. The orc fought ferociously, but an unarmed orc is no match for me. I dispatched him quickly, and went to help Talia finish readying the horses. We freed them, loaded up what we had found, and rode away. On our way out of the warzone, we found a deer that had been struck by a stray arrow from the fight behind us. We skinned it, and took the meat and pelts. With nothing else eventful happening for the rest of that day, we set up camp once again, and slept off our fatigue.
