When I went to the house at sunset, an entire group of people were also there...all having received similar cards and instructions: Maelgar, a stoic orc fighter; Ramya, a rambunctious paladin; Tonk, a gnome wizard; and Obsidian Serpent, a mysterious shaman. Apparently, Gaedren had impacted each of us, made further clear when a woman suddenly appeared named Zellara Esmeranda. Her son had been captured and killed by Gaedren while seeking to reacquire the Harrow deck stolen from her. She implored us to go West Pier 17—Gaedren's hideout—and recover her Harrow deck. I admit, as compelling as she was, I found this story a little strange because she still had a Harrow deck with her that she used to read our fortunes for the coming adventure. Does she have two decks? Perhaps. Regardless, for me she drew the Rabbit Prince card; what does it mean?

We found ourselves outside Pier 17, and while scouting the perimeter, I happened to look in one of the cracked exterior doors and saw these poor, decrepit children working, using tools to feed fish into some sort of pool or sluice. I burst in, assuming they were alone and needed help escaping. A foolish move on my part: a crazed, knife-wielding gnome nearly stabbed me! Thankfully, the others followed me in and we were able to discharge the maniac. His compatriot, though, ran into an adjoining room. I ran to the north door, and hearing activity, assumed it was my new colleagues parlaying with the pale, white-haired spellcaster they chased away. I was wrong...again. Instead, an enormous, giggling orc nearly butchered me to death! I was able to get away just in time as my teammates ran him through. I really must learn to be more cautious. [Strikes through text recounting impetuously running onto a ship, falling through the planks, and nearly being murdered by spiders.]

We ultimately tracked Gaedren down to a ramshackle area below a ship in the dock. He had a sinister "pet" crocodile in an open area in the middle of the room, but Maelgar and I were fleet-footed enough to run around either side of it and flank Gaedren before he could flee. Despite his refrain that he wished Gaedren dead, Maelgar pulled his attacks just enough to keep him alive. Apparently one of our companions, Tonk, needs Gaedren to clear his name. Unfortunately, as Gaedren attempted to get away, I - er - dealt the killing blow. I am sure we can find something among his possessions to clear the good name of our gnomish friend! Thankfully, I also found my Wayfinder. It's a little beat up, but I will get it repaired and figure out how to use it.
Strangely, as we stepped out of Gaedren's dockside lair, the city was in a tumult around us. Someone ran by yelling, "The king has died!"
This can't be good.
