Dearest Swan,
It has been a while. Almost a month, I would estimate, since I last wrote to you. Perhaps slightly longer, as I did not feel my previous... efforts were worthy of your attention. I have been recuperating as of late, unable to explore and spread the usual cheer that I am known for, related to what I mentioned, my previous unworthy efforts.
Thankfully I am now fully recovered, and grew utterly bored of not being out there with my fellow associates. For one, it pained me that I was unable to assist with my colleague's ventures, and I was reassured that Mace was missing my company too. For two, lying in bed and doing boring administrative nonsense doesn't put to good use the knowledge and power that you instilled within me many years ago, which... is a waste. For both of us.
Nevertheless, with my confidence bolstered and my blood no longer leaking, and Mace having found something with a new friend of his that would be of interest, we travelled out together to a temple in the forest. Don't ask me where the specific location is, I didn't really do the navigation.
There was a lot of discussion regarding wings. Some of it concerned me, given the nature of the discussion spinning around to my own wings. Thankfully put paid to the idea of roasting my wings. Enroute to a location that we reasonably thought our target to be, we all kept busy doing things. For a while, I kept an eye out for any clues on the floor, and then thought about the history of the area. Proved useful, I'd read something about the area before. Rather interesting...
We encountered a weird firbolg in the forest. He seemed confused about how doors worked, seeming to knock on the door in the tree and then opening it himself. The height of rudeness, not waiting for us to say come in. Then again, no idea why he knocked at all... strange fellow. Offered us sage and mushrooms. Enjoyed a bite to eat himself. I didn't pick anything up, having no interest in buying random strange things from people I don't trust.
We continued, guided by the firbolg in the right direction, and encountered the temple, at the bottom of a largeish ditch. The others made their way down the steepish edge, and at least one of them took a tumble (I won't name names). I had a biological advantage in this regard, and casually flew down. Score one for the wing-bearing Tiefling nation!
Once inside, Gegrun (Mace's new associate) cleared some of the rubble, and we made our way inside. The smart wizard fellow, either Kinneard (excuse the spelling, I don't think I saw his name written down properly) or Wil found a hidden button in a wall, hidden amongst the mural, and then Gegrun did his thing and pushed it. Viciously.
Inside, we did more exploring, and Kinneard was curious about some orange haze in the air above our heads. When we moved on, he stayed behind I assume to do some wizardly experiments. He certainly didn't look happy when he caught up to us. Must not have gone well. Shame.
We continued, and came across a great hall slash throne room. This is where things got... interesting. There were imps, and something big. And I mean big. (I've been told since that it's a Bone Devil. Shame I didn't get more time to take a bit of a look, for research purposes.)
I will admit, I don't remember much else, but I hope that this has been useful to you.
Regards and ever in Your service,
Arkadius Hogg
