A bunch of new friends!

by Malgrim

Wow! The last week went by in a blur. I was walking down the mountainside and apparently, I had managed to leave the dwarves' lands and enter Akkon. I was just passing by an old mining town when a hill giant showed up. The bastard wanted me to move so he could plunder the town, but the laws of the mountain made me stand my ground. The big brute tried to smack me, but the blob was slower than brother Thorum after his fifteenth pint of Mahakum Ale. I danced around him for a bit, until his massive gut rumbled and he went somewhere else for food.

Some days later a messenger brought a scroll from the king himself, calling me to the capital. I couldn't believe it at first, but a nice merchant confirmed that it was indeed the king's sigil on the letter. He then asked me to leave his house. Rude. In any case, I set of that same day and walked until i came to the biggest city I had ever seen. I showed some guards my papers and they took me to a massive house where the king lived.

Later that day I got to meet him along with some other odd folk. A goat-man with massive muscles who apparently was really good at telling stories or something, I don't really recall. I was too distracted by his strange goat legs. I do remember that his name was Imaros at least. Then there was the black cat-man Delgado. He's a bit sketchy but seemed alright. The last one was a strangely shimmering elf named Jay Quellin, or Ja Quellin, or something along those lines. She told me that the shimmer was because she came from a strange place called the Feywild, which sounds unreliable at best. It turned out that Imaros was also from there, which explains the strange goat-legs. I don't think the mountains are as sturdy in that realm as in this.

Together we got to talk to the king, and he paid us for helping his people. A good king. He then asked us to help him find out why his soldiers had gone missing, which obviously I had to accept. Those poor men needed our aid and I was not about to turn back on the path now. With these other strange folk we made it back down to the city where we met Imaros cousin who had a bar, which is apparently the same as a pub. But they had no dwarven spirits. A shame. I did managed to find a barrel of the ancient gnomish spice melange, and had a really nice high. I have a faint memry of paying a hefty sum for it too, but I seem to be having a hard time remembering.

Next thing I know, we are all walking to a forest where the soldiers had gone missing. The next day we arrived. It was a nice forest. Tons of cute animals around, even if it was a little gloomy. We found a place where I got some real bad vibes. Then Delgado and Jaq Quellin dove into the woods, and then told me to do the same. I guessed that they had heard something I had missed so I hid as best as I could. It turned out to be a man, and when he asked who we were I answered him so he wouldn't think we were bandits. He was a nice fellow. Fancy clothes and was friends with the queen. I hope he gives her and the king our regards.

The others then began to search the area. But I sensed something was off. Like a pair of eyes in the neck yaknow. So I used my staff to reveal if there was any magic nearby, and there was. Something green by the trees. That's when I saw them. Grobbi. There was a whole ambush of them. And some of my own kin were leading them. Even with all the training from master Halfdan, I eventually fell to some foul gobhefjor. But thanks to the black catman I was brought back to health and managed hold them off long enough for the others to finish the last of the wierdly brave grobbi off. I know I might have killed one or two of the grobbi, but I knew I had just knocked out my kin. But when a whispering voice said something in our heads, the poor ambushers rotted in front of us. They might be foul but I don't think they deserved anything that bad.

I wonder what is going on, and by the path I will figure it out along with my new friends.
