Session 31 - Thar be Minotaurs!
Knack studies the altar atop the Ziggurat - it appers to be Drow construciton. The altar upon it seems like it is very old and has no ties/links to any civilization he knows. Its seems primordial.
Knack feels watched. Which causes Zane to mention the “eye” he saw when he touched the altar.
Thanatos performs last rights on the remains of Cole and the unknown commoner who were collateral damage in the previous battle with Vanifer.
Lane spends some time in prayer to Fharlangen seeking wisdome on how best to deal with the altar. Some tales from the “Traveler’s Journal” come to mind… A solo traveller once encountered a powerful evil. Rather than risk his life now, the traveller brought together other travelers to defeat the evil. Lane takes this as a sign that the alter is not to be trifled with at this time.
Not fond of the “feeling like being watched”, The party moves away from the Ziggurat room and into the room Taraxacam got a look at during the last battle - it contains a sarcophagus (clearly Drow origin) and has all four elemental symbols beneath another symbol that is maybe “eye-like”.
The evokes various theories from the group that all this cult activity and elemental phenomena could likely tied to something old and primordial. Maybe “above” the elements. Each PC can attest to hearing stories of powers that were before the old gods and the new gods.
The sarcophagus does have a layer of dust on it and the floor looks less traveled than other areas. They decide to this is a better room to rest in… They are in rough shape from the previous fight and if they press on they fear their chances of encounter something else increases.
The group takes a long rest in the Tiny hut cast by Lane.
Once in the hut:
- Lane replies to Haeeleyas sending wtih “Message received. Olive with us. Is devestation complete or ongoing in Greenfield? Found earth and fire cult. Seeking cause of all disturbances. Delegation search ongoing.”
- Hayleeya sends a new sending “Red Lark okay. Greenfields abandoned. Good luck, Overwhelming elements here.”
- To which Lane replies: “Believe elemental cults are root of problem. Will continue to search for answers here. Will persue air cult next if we survive.”
- Knack casts identify on “Tinderstrike” (Vanifers dagger). It is given to Taraxacam and he attunes to it - he gains a “flaw” that is essentially who he is!

In the 8th hour of the long rest from inside the Hut…. The party sees two Minotaur enter the room. One holds up while the other passes through the black veil into the Ziggurat room. A few minutes pass and the Minotaur returns. Olive has donned the helm of comprehend languages now and can understand the Abysal tounge of the Minotaurs. One says “she is not there, but there are signs of a fight.” The second grunts and they leave the room.
The long rest finishes and the PCs go to the veil where the minotaurs exited. Lane casts the Hut where the veil is creating a safe passage through the veil. However on the other side they see two Minotaur apparently on guard duty.
The PCs attack. A battle breaks out with the minotaur and thier minotaur reinforcements that include a boss-monotaur and a Nothic.
Lane primarilly remains in the Hut providing healing to anyone returning to the Hut in the battle. The rest of the party engage directly.
The low-points are Knack getting gored by a minor and knocked out.
The highlight is Thanatos’ back-to-back crits on the boss-mino (killing it) to solidly turn the tide of the battle.
Taraxacam and Luke chase down the fleeing Nothic. Luke grapples it with a spell and Taraxacam kills the Nothic who falls down the glowing-red shaft.
The party searches the minotaur’s area.
The shaft has a floating disk. Knack casts identify on it and learns the disk will rise with the keyword “ember” and lower with the keyword “ash”. Ringing a nearby gong will call it to this level.
The determine the first room of the Minotars was an old Drow demon summoning room… the summoning circles on the floor damaged and useless.
They find the boss-mino’s quarters and find coin (and grusome trophies (burned hands, human and lizard) spiked to the wall.
in the main mino barracks, they find an ogre skeleton burned and spiked to the wall.
