Dryfolk
The Dryfolk is an ethnicity that only resides within the Azalea Desert Because of their small numbers and their seclusion in the continent's harshest nation, no other nations know these people exist.
An ancient myth tells the tale of a mother and her child wandering through the desert when a harsh sandstorm hit. The mother tried everything to keep her child safe, but was no match for the harsh environment. She called out to the gods for help as she lay dying, her skin dry and cut from the whipping sand around her. Pitaya, God of Judgement came to their aid. The mother begged Pitaya to help them survive the harsh storm. Pitaya agreed to help them on one condition. While what the condition was has been lost to time, the woman agreed to it, and in return, received a little bit of Pitaya's Blood. Because of this blood, magic became a norm of Dryfolk society. They learned to harness and practice its power.
This tale is depicted on a stone tablet kept in a sanctuary at the center of their village. Recently, the tablet has been stolen by an unknown party.

Magic is the basis of Dryfolk society. The older you are, the stronger magic you are able to wield. While magic classes can vary, everyone is taught to harness their powers at a young age; specialized schools have been created to teach the different magic classes.
