The Judging of the Scales
The Judging of the Scales is the ritual performed by Pitaya in Exodus, judging one's soul if it is to be sent to Reveri or be reincarnated back in the .
It is a sacred ritual that was once only performed by Pitaya himself, but recenetly The Chosen have taken it upon themselves to perform the ritual in the Material Plane.
History
The Judging of the Scales is thought to have been created around the time Pitaya was banished to Exodus. Before his banishment, Pitaya would walk in the Material Plane and judge mortals there. If your soul was tainted, he would come for you kill you with his scythe, forcing your soul to reincarnate immediatly.
Without being able to walk the Material Plane, Pitaya was forced to create a new judgment ritual. Ever since, the ritual has been interpreted in many ways, though the most popular and well known execution is The Chosen's.
Execution
While there are many ways to perform the ritual, the most widely known method is The Chosen's. The ritual is carried out on a large scale, often with one end hanging over a cliff or a pit. The one being judged stands over this side while a mirror is put on the other. In most cases, The Chosen uses live people they'd kidnapped, usually those who have "committed sin". If the accused has sinned and is not worthy of ascending to Reveri, the scale tips in their direction and they fall to their death, allowing their soul to be sent to Pitaya and be reincarnated.
Pitaya's form of the ritual is very similar, though instead of a mirror, he takes the form of the one being judged. If it is an exact clone, the soul is pure. The more distorted Pitaya becomes, the more sins that have been comitted.
Components and tools
A large scale, a cliff/ hole, and a mirror.
Participants
The Chosen does not perform this ritual very often it seems, only for special occasions. Because The Chosen is a very secreative group, not much is known other than the overall idea of the ritual. However, it is believed that The Reaper, the leader of The Chosen, is in attendence during the ritual. They might even carry out the ritual and read the final verdict, but its all just speculation so far.
