Mimics

Most mimics' true forms are unknown, as any time one is seen, it has already mutated into its hidden form. They do posses an 'original form', as remnants of their mutation process have been found in the form of claw clippings, mucous deposits, and shed skin samples. Based on the parts of them that still retain their original form (jaws, teeth, internal organs, etc.), it can be deduced that the Mimics original forms' are hideous and disgusting to a point of revulsion in their prey, hence why they mutate to attract the prey to them. Most mimics are long lived, except Skinwalkers, which live relatively short term lives. While Skinwalkers and Shadow Minstrels show a high level of intelligence, other Mimics seem to function more on instinct than anything else, and their intelligence can be classified as similar to wild animals.
