The Heart of Creation

The Godforge

Forgemaster Katas is the God of Creation. He built the Moon and the Stars, the First Blade and the First City. Myths the world over claim that he had a seat of power from which his designs were made. Over the centuries many attempts have been made to enter his Celestial Workshop to either learn or steal from, but all so far have failed.   Common belief holds that his workshop lies somewhere within the Volcanic land of Prótos, at the end of The Forgemaster's Step range. It is a harsh landscape, full of magma fields and dangerous creatures, leading to the deaths of many seeking adventure or treasure, but this deters few who have heard great tales of what awaits the best of mortalkind.

Legends

Though none have ever made it into the workshop itself, there are several tales detailing what one may find both on the journey towards and the space within.

The Unbreakable Door

A "wall of purest adamant" sits as the first barrier to entry his great halls. Thought to be utterly invincible in the truest sense of the word, the only way past is through a door whose lock is so intricate that it could confound the greatest thief of the age, with tumblers that constantly move and rotate, grinding common lockpicks to dust while the combination remains in flux.

Mural of Mortality

Of the few of people that claimed to have reached past the first door and returned, they all make mention of a great carving lining the metallic walls, depicting the many mortal species whom inhabit the world.

Magmatic Kraken

A handful of reports tell of a great river of lava, inhabited by a giant creature whose shining tentacles reach out to drag interlopers to their molten demise. Whether this is a living beast, an elemental, or one of Katas' impossible constructs, is unknown.

The Twinned Colossus

Only one group of heroes has ever made it past the river of lava and made it out to tell the tale. They spoke of a towering construct of bronze, similar to the guardian of Katarn, but with dual heads and four gargantuan arms. It patrols a cavernous room overflowing with treasure, guarding the only path towards the workshop. No mortal has ever reached beyond this point, and so the following ideas are pure speculation and mythology without even a single witness to verify them.

The First Forge

The Forgemasters steps are testiment to the fact that Katas walked the world in ages past in search of the perfect location to settle his home. Some legends state that he even created a prototype of his forge, and that adventurers seeking out his true workshop must first pass a test of skill: take up the hammer, and craft something worthy of his attention.

The Book of Life

Patír, Goddess of Life worked with Katas in eons past to give birth to all living things, from the smallest insect to the mightiest giant. It is said Katas keeps a record of every species his counterpart created, a metal replica of every bird and beast and bug. Arranged in a garden with pools of lava and leaves of mithral, they decorate the entrance to The Forgemaster's Heart.

The Workshop

Finally, if one can solve the riddle on his doorstep, one may enter Katas' forge. The workshop is rumoured to be littered with wonders beyond the skill of mortals to create, from immortal-slaying weapons to indestructable armours. An army of warforged guard his creations, while in the farthest corner Katas, or perhaps his champion, works at an anvil made of diamond with a furnace powered by the beating heart of a miniature sun.
