Description
Veilpiercer's blade begins already extremely thin at its base and only grows more so towards the bizarrely long edge - by the point at the end it is difficult to even see without focusing.
The handle is formed from a beautiful latticework of interwoven metals, while a basket guard cups around the wielder's hand, protecting it from harm.
History
Veilpiercer was crafted by the legendary hero
Truthseeker Lysander Alteon for a single purpose: to destroy a dangerous magical item known as The Veil which was, at that time, being used to terrorize entire cities with cloaking magics. He journeyed to
The Heart of Creation in order to craft it, and once the deed was done, returned the sword to its birthplace.
Veilpiercer now rests within The Godforge, on proud display for any who live or venture within.
Mechanics
You gain a +2 to hit and damage rolls made with Veilpiercer, and you deal an additional 1d8 Force damage per strike. If a creature is currently disguised or hidden by illusion magic during your attack, this bonus increases to a +4 against them and an additional 1d8 Force damage.
You gain advantage on Perception and Investigation checks to detect illusions, and advantage on saving throws against Illusion spells.
If you strike at a creature, object, or location currently affected by illusion magic, Veilpiercer automatically attempts to disrupt the effect, as if casting
Dispel Magic at 5th level. If attempting to disrupt a spell or other magic higher than 5th level, roll 1d20+9; if the total is higher than 10 plus the level of magic used to create the effect, you dispel it.
If you fail to disrupt an effect, you may not attempt to dispel that specific effect again until the next dawn.
