The Maera

The Maera is a lake located in Griselderyn, right in the middle of The Howling Hills and east of The Thairdal. Besides being home to Cathaineogh, the largest city of The Howling Wilds, it also holds significant cultural and religious importance to the followers of The Veiled Mother. An ancient temple, located on an island in the middle of the lake is said to be the home of this enigmatic goddess, though she only reveals herself to her most faithful devotees. It is therefore a popular pilgrimage site.
