The Whailing Wastes

The Whailing Wastes are an area composed mostly of drylands and mesas, located in the south of Upper Zagesi, between The Merkas Highlands and The Neferi. They gain their name from the winds that come in from The Neferi, as well as the dry winds coming from The Daga-Kurum Desert, which come together and blow through the chasms and mesas of the region to create a truly haunting symphony, which only gets worse during the harsher seasons.
The Whailing Wastes are also said to be home to many wandering undead and restless spirits, and have been steadily expanding over the past 1000 years or so, which has been of particular concern to the nearby city state of Ashuur.
