The Drowned Forest

A large expanse of swampland on the peninsula to the southwest of Saltmarsh. This tangled system of fens and marshes extends inland from the coast some XX miles to the XXXX mountains. The Drowned Forest is crisscrossed by innumerable small watercourses and is populated by a range of swampland creatures, including bloat-flies, barbed stranglers, and giant crocodiles.
The most notable inhabitants of the Drowned Forest are the XXXX lizardfolk tribe, currently led by Queen Othokent. The politically isolationist lizardfolk are fierce fighters, although they occasionally trade with outside groups. The Lizardfolk Lair is located a day's sail from Saltmarsh and there is more than meets the eye about this low mound that rises above the swampy shore. In addition, several dozen small bollywog clans led by small-time chieftains are scattered through the marshes. The clans are predominantly engaged in internecine warfare and treasure hunting, although the groups closest to the swamp's margins occasionally leave the marshes to raid isolated "dirthopper" hamlets.
