Æsir

Giant among Giants Æsir (a.k.a. All-Father, Seer, Arch-Brother)

Like the old Dvati god, Mór-Ríoghain, Æsir is a deity which possesses multiple personalities and components which surface at different times. Unlike the Mór-Ríoghain, Æsir survived the Gods Plague intact and continues to act as the head deity of the Giant Pantheon. As the head deity, Æsir is believed to be the progenitor of all giants and giantkin, including Firbolgs, Goliaths, and Dwarves. Æsir has three aspects as a deity, the Father who created Giants and gives them their strength, the Seer who provided the laws for Giants and guides them into their future, and the Brother who challenges Giants in life and cares for them when they must die. Æsir presides over the plane of Niflheimr where the souls of Giants go when they die.

Tenets of Faith

Laws, as set out by the aspect of the Seer, demanded that Giants set out to better themselves and they obey the commands of their elders.

In seeking to better themselves, Giants were not asked to be kind to other races. Instead, Giants were simply asked that they must adhere to whatever they seek and hunt it always. Many Giants sought different goals in their personal quests; Fire Giants trained to become powerful warriors, Stone Giants dedicated themselves to the perfections of a craft, Firbolgs seek perfect harmony with nature, Dwarves strive to build the most magnificent cities, etc etc. While most Giants within a group tend to be dedicated to a single goal, Goliaths dedicate themselves to a variety of personal pursuits. Giants are driven by goals which they are bound by their god to seek, lest they become the Draugr which challenge those who travel through Niflheimr on the way to Æsir's Halls. However, the goals which tend to define a group of Giants is not necessarily the path each member of that group will take.

Personal history

Æsir seems almost like a force of nature like the Mór-Ríoghain, Æsir existed before the gods which created Aberiam and has persisted long after them. Unlike Mór-Ríoghain who was devoured by Tiamat, Æsir escaped her jaws. In retaliation to Tiamat's attack on his plane, Æsir commanded the Goliath Titan, Xigi, and the Dwarven Cleric, Haddok Rockjoint. After helping to fell Tiamat, it is said that they were granted seats next to the Father in the Halls of Æsir.
