Oracles of the First Mage

Structure

The eight oracles are chosen by a ritual (The Right of Oracles) and each represent one of the eight schools of magic. They are responsible for directing the teachings and directing/performing the yearly ritual. Any mage can be chosen by the rite even if they are not already a member of the cult. They will then be saught out by the current oracles and brought into the fold.   The other mages that follow the cult take part int the ritual but with a less prominent role.

Culture

Members of the cult are identifiable by a shining eye symbol somewhere on their person. The Oracle's mark has a blue sapphire set into the eye.

Mythology & Lore

The Oracles believe in an old Sight ritual that requires one mage of each school to complete. They await the conditions to preform it truly and until then practise it once a year symbolically.   They believe that Sight shattered magic into the eight schools to balance the power magic has, especially amongst the unfaithful, and will keep them segregated until the ritual is completed sufficiently, at which point the mages involved will be granted the true power magic can grant them and become the chosen of Sight.

Ethics

The cult is generally uninvasive and keeps to themselves unless an Oracle outside of their current worshippers is chosen. They will at first attemt to bring the chosen mage around to their view in acceptable ways but more unethical steps may be taken if this does not work.

Worship

Upon first joining the cult the symbol is applied to the member in a different way depending on their chosen school and so each school's symbol has variance to it. For example evocation is branded whereas illusion is tattoo'd in a shifting ink.
