The Lightning Clan

The Lightning Clan is one of the four Great Clans of Acciphere, the others being the Fire Clan, Earth Clan and Water Clan. The patron Power Beasts of the Lightning Clan are Ascendion and Agordion, the twin dragons of Lightning. The Lightning Clan is situated in two villages: Astrapi and Keraunos. Astrapi was laid waste to by Leonidas in 1288 KE, in his quest for the extermination of the four great clans. He spared Keraunos in return for Adrian, the Lightning Clan Head of Security and General, joining his side.

Structure

The village of Astrapi has the temple to the Dragon of Lightning Agordion and the village of Keraunos has the temple to the Dragon of Lightning Ascendion. Both villages have their own priests. The Lightning Clan is led by the Council, whose head is the Clan Leader. The Clan Leader is elected, and appoints all other council members: the Head of Security (also known as the Clan General), the Treasurer and the Head of Resources. The Treasurer and the Head of Resources can be the same. All members of the Lightning Clan undergo a ceremony when they come of age (i.e., 15 years) and are declared full members of the Clan.
People above the age of 15 years can apply to become a member of the Clan, but most of the petitions are denied. The select few who gain approval undergo the ceremony to become members of the Lightning Clan, and all their descendents are members of the Clan in perpetuity. After the ceremony, either of the dragons gives the power of lightning manipulation to the new member. People can leave the Clan, but they must give up their power of lightning manipulation before they leave. In the past, members couldn’t join the Clan or leave it. However, after the dragons were incarnated in their true forms on Acciphere, the rule was lifted.

Culture

Before the War of Artefacts, all members of the Lightning Clan could manipulate lightning, and this power was amplified with an enchanted weapon. They did not require an Artefact to manipulate lightning, but they had to be trained in the element of lightning to control their powers. They had in their possession the twin spears of Lightning, which were the earthly incarnations of the twin dragons of Lightning. One spear was always held by the Head of Security and the Clan Leader. When the Head of Security or the Clan Leader reached the end of his/her life or retired, it was tradition for him/her to give the spear to one of their descendants or the progeny of their friends. The spear had to be returned when a new person took up the seat in the council. The spears were used in many ceremonies.
Now, after the spears were destroyed in the War of the Artefacts and the dragons were reincarnated in their true form on Acciphere, the dragons are directly worshipped.

Assets

The Lightning Clan owns two villages, namely Astrapi and Keraunos. They also own some of the surrounding lands. They maintain and operate the two temples of the twin dragons of Lightning. They are also the largest owners of Adamnite Gold besides the kingdoms, since they use a combination of Adamnite Gold and Asil Jade to make weapons for clan members.

History

When God imprisoned the twin dragons of Lightning, Ascendion and Agordion, in their respective Artefacts, he handed the responsibility of taking care of the Artefacts to a group of people who later formed the Clan of Lightning. They created the Council, and protected the Artefacts, and this led to the formation of the two villages of Astrapi and Keraunos. However, the peace wasn’t meant to last.

The Mysterious Attack

A mysterious woman with brute strength as powerful as the Lightning Artefacts themselves, attacked the village of Keraunos and Astrapi. They were almost destroyed in the process, but the Clan leader, Horace Fudiol, broke the Artefacts and summoned the dragons, knowing that it would cost his life. But he did everything to save both villages, and killed the woman. Just before he died, he sealed the dragons in two spears he had made for his sons’ birthdays, and named them after the dragons sealed in them. He then gave one to each of his sons, asking them to watch over the Lightning Clan using the spears. He also told them that the spears he made listened only to them, and will listen to whomever they passed them onto, so he asked them to choose their successors carefully.

Disappearing into the Shadows

After the War of the Kingdoms, the four clans decided to form new rules for their continued cooperation and handling of the Artefacts. However, the Lightning Clan was excluded from most meetings, because the other Clans considered them weak without any Artefact. The Lightning Clan withdrew from the other Clans, but continued cooperating with them in times of great need. In the lore of the other Clans, the Lightning Clan slowly passed out of existence, with only the leader of those clans being aware of the existence of the Lightning Clan.

Decimation of Astrapi

In 1288 KE, Leonidas decimated the village of Astrapi but spared Keraunos. He was aware of the spears, but ultimately realized that he could not summon the dragons, since Adrian never handed over his spear. He gave up on the Twin Dragons of Lightning and began focusing more on the other Artefacts.
In the Second Robot War, the Lightning Clan supported Lucas and even Adrian finally switched sides to Lucas, helping overthrow Leonidas. In the battle, Lucas, an incarnation of Fidan (more on him later) defeated Leonidas, exchanging his life for summoning the Twin Dragons of Lightning.

A Fresh Start

Then, Astrapi was finally rebuilt, temples were constructed for the two dragons, and Lightning Clan enacted its new rules regarding new members of the Clan. Adrian took up the position of Clan Leader and worked on the reshaping of the Lightning Clan. The Clan has again slowly started regaining its former numbers, and is now very prosperous.

This place is so interesting, I would really want to read a story from one of its members. Maybe because it takes me back to the stories of samurai and ninja clans.   I think the text could benefit from some indents or break into 2 columns with a visual in one. The longer parts felt heavy for me.   I miss the information on the important things, like Adamnite Gold and Asil Jade, even a single sentence heads-up with a tooltip.   Good job, I look forward to reading more.

Wow, thanks! If you want to read more, there are three more clans you could read about. They are the The Fire Clan and the The Water Clan.

I have them open since yesterday's premiere but couldn't find the time to read. I will get back to them, though. ;)
