Monitors

Monitors are the eyes and ears of the preeminent Parents. Designed by the Parents to be bridges between dimensions, these beings seem to be ethereal in nature and police the known universe acting in behest of the Parents unknown plans. Monitors are the go-between of the Parents and Wolven in the story of Adastra as direct communication between the parents and sapients is stated to be impossible.
Throughout the novel Marco is telepathically connected to an ethereal monitor who prophecizes his and Amicus' actions, supposedly guiding them to the roles they were seemingly destined to play in the universe. While their stated philosophy is a hands-off approach to policing the universe, they have been known to influence the outcome of situations for their interpretation of the greater good.
