Neferu

Second son of the Pharoah of Khemia, Neferu is a politically savvy Khemian ambassador to the Wolven who arrives before the Trials of Succession. Originally traveling Ancoris before being trapped in the Stella Vita system due to the Wolven Stretch Drive depletion. Neferu was invited to the palace by Virginia after her tour of the city of Lux. Neferu is considered blunt by the standards of the Wolven making his ambassadorial duties and life within the palace somewhat difficult to navigate.

Character Synopsis

Arriving shortly after Amicus kidnaps Marco, Neferu takes great interest in the politics of the palace. After his initial introduction to Marco, Neferu takes great interest in the alien and pry's into Amicus and Marco's true relationship. Neferu confronts Amicus about the nature of Marco's intelligence and status in the baths, hitting on him aggressively after Amicus physically confronts him. Shortly after this confrontation, Cassius threatens Marco's life in front of Amicus making the wolf seek a method of protection for Marco. He approaches Neferu about Khemian citizenship for Marco which Neferu agrees to under the condition that Neferu and Amicus hook up. Marco finds Amicus and Neferu having sex and becomes upset with Amicus the day before the second trial. The morning of the trial, Neferu seeks out Marco and explains the situation between him and Amicus as well as telling Marco that he is now a Khemian citizen. He brings Marco to Amicus to help repair the relationship between the two just before the second trial. During the trial, Neferu quietly discusses his plans with Virginia and reveals Marco's intelligence to the female wolf. After Cassius broadcasts the video of Neferu and Amicus's hookup, Neferu hastens Marco to leave but is stopped when the votes reveal that Amicus is the victor. After Marco wakes up from his viral induced coma, gets caught with Amicus and escapes Cato, Marco runs to Neferu's room for protection. Cato swiftly follows, clearly injured, and demands Neferu hand over Marco to which he refuses and states it is because Marco is a sovereign Khemian citizen. Once Cato leaves, Marco recounts his past few days to Neferu who, after Virginia arrives, decides to inform Marco of his intentions and goals as an Khemian ambassador. Plans are laid out for the next few days. Cato comes to speak with Neferu who set up a secret drone to record the interaction where Neferu goads Cato into anger. Cato chokes Neferu for his insolence and threatens the Khemian with death before kicking him into a daze. Later that night, after following Alexios, Marco reports to Neferu who reaffirms Marco’s suspicions about the Cat. Both Marco and Neferu head to the island in the middle of the lake and confront Alexios about his midnight trips discovering a plant based communication device that Alexios uses to communicate spy activities with Omorfa. Alexios, embittered, lays into Neferu about his position in the political landscape of Khemia and his precarious position on Adastra, wounding Neferu’s pride. Marco returns from his meeting with the imprisoned Amicus to Neferu’s room only to find him incredibly drunk and upset at the state of affairs, blaming Marco for his plans being ruined. Initially furious, Marco calms Neferu down after he opens up about his political life on Khemian and comforts him until he passes out. After Cassius agrees to step down from the emperor ship, Marco, Virginia and Neferu celebrate. The following Neferu remains in bed as the other two are called for breakfast with Cato where things take a turn. after escaping the palace, Marco finds out Neferu is schedule for execution by Cato and hurries to Amicus’s cell to free Amicus and challenge Cato in order to save him. As Cato and Amicus begin their fight to the death, Marco rescues Neferu from the executioners stand who then tells him to flee. Marco refuses and after he is garroted by Cato, Neferu stands between him and Cato giving Amicus enough time to take down Cato and rip his throat out. After Amicus takes the throne, Neferu accompanies him to the meetings with the true Khemian ambassador and Vizier at Varro University. As the months go on Neferu continues to reside in the palaces going out for ambassadorial missions but also growing closer to Marco. The day before Marco is to leave back to earth for his mission he meets with Neferu in the Baths. They have a heartfelt conversation establishing a true bond of friendship and agree to tell each other about their lives/missions when Marco returns and visits Neferu on Khemia. As Marco is about to get on the emperor's ship to begin his mission on Earth Neferu gives him a farewell that he says is reserved for siblings.
