The Kingdom of Andrial

A long-lived, yet relatively cloistered Kingdom, Andrial is a traditional, protective, and militant Kingdom. They have a rather large history of warring with The Blue Star Empire. Despite their emphasis on military and protection, they actually have a tendency to avoid chances of expansion - opting instead to bolster their current lands before grabbing more.   An interesting thing, considering their recent colonization of Ysgard..

Structure

While of course House Alagondar is the ruling family, there are a number of major noble houses that could be best described as the "Generals" of the army, as Andrial has a much more militant structure than other Kingdoms and Empires - despite their unwillingness for expansionism. The major houses are as follow.
  • House Torralandar
  • House Nerovae
  • House Ralinvar
  • House Yurgonai
These major noble houses oversee some of the larger cities (barring the capital of course) and are in charge of what Andrial believes to be their strongest and most defended focus points in their Kingdom, and integral to keeping the structure of Andrial - however true or untrue that may actually be.   Following that are the number of minor houses within the Kingdom of Andrial -
  • House Loccil
  • House Dracolae
  • House Jilindar
((Of course, there may be more - but in an attempt to not overtake players, they will be listed as players decide to be from a noble house.))   These minor houses are either given towns or small villages to run, or operate directly out of one of the larger cities ruled by one of the major noble houses. Nobility in Andrial doesn't quite correlate to land ownership like it may in other kingdoms, and is instead sometimes a bit of a meritocracy, encouraging those looking to make a name for themselves to be valorous in battle and shrewd in court; two ideals that Andrial very greatly celebrates.

Culture

Citizens and nobility from Andrial are not all that different from what you'd see in other regions save for one change in particular. While not exactly xenophobic in the sense that they'd clasp a foreigner in chains immediately, they do distrust the intentions of foreign agents with any sort of status or standing, expecting that no good can ever come from someone of significant social standing or rank being on their lands. So paranoid are the people of Andrial sometimes that a noble from another region may even find it hard to be able to conduct normal business like buying fruit at a market than a complete peasant from the same region.   That being said, most Andrian communities are rather tight-knit, and even in some larger towns it is not unusual for everyone to know everyone, making information gathering rings particularly easy as there's little left unknown in any given town. Cities are of course a different matter due to their size, but it instead manifests in those cities on a per-district basis, with some cities even have "district leaders" who communicate with the other ones, despite the fact that there is usually a normal government in charge - A duke, a baron, etcera.   Andrian citizens are frequently also kind to their neighboring cities and towns, but sometimes the cloistering paranoia is thick enough that if a citizen from a different town or city begins asking a large amount of questions to those not predisposed to share, they may be met with some suspicion as well, "What are you up to?" is the most frequent question, as people of those kinds are frequently believed to only want swathes of information if they're looking to meddle and change the status quo.   Which does cause for some childish and downright aggravating games between ruling Nobles of different towns. They're willing to engage, but it is so delicate a balance of diplomacy and information gathering that one wrong move may have you suspected for doing things "above your standing."   This, ironically, enthuses all nobility to know as much as possible about each other and even neighboring lands as if it were poker cards to throw down at any given moment. Everyone can be suspicious, so make sure you know everyone so you know when to catch them.

Public Agenda

Andrial's public agenda is somewhat part of the issue that some kingdoms have with it, particularly the The Pal'vryn Empire, as Andrial's number one priority is the defense of its lands above all else.   Something that caused the split between its people back during the founding of the Pal'vryn Empire, as the people who split believed that it was more important for them to prevent the Plaguelands from spreading than to draw a circle around some land and refuse to leave.   Naturally, the half of the kingdom that stayed claimed that it wasn't their job to cure every ailment of the world, and that the plaguelands can be handled by other kingdoms or empires - most of them citing The Blue Star Empire's penchant for expansionism in the first place.   It has been many, many years since the split, but the grudge between the two kingdoms does remain - both still upset with the other for refusing each other's priorities.

Peace

Dragons Wings wronged Andrial before, while they've made up for it slightly... There are still a few hard feelings.

Friendly Terms

The Pal'vryn Empire was actually made up of people from Andrial who thought dealing with the plaguelands was far more important than staying couped up. Naturally, these strong disagreements in policy continue.

At War

War is no stranger between Andrial and Blue Star, and after some events on Ysgard, war has been formerly declared by Andrial.
