Session 1 - Destinies Converging

General Summary

15 Sydenstar, Yulisen, 835 P.D. - Alfield Kai and Jandaelyn first meet on the path south of Alfield, where Kai stops for a break at a stream, and encounters a bear cub, closely followed by mama bear. Jandaelyn scares aware the mother and cub, and the two travel on together towards the town. Windracer and Philan meet on the road east of Alfield. Philan encounters a halfling woman with an overturned cart. He tries to help, but the cart is too heavy, until Windracer comes along. Together they are able to right the cart, and they travel on together towards the town. Beiric and Elephon meet on the road north of Alfield when they share a rest on a fallen tree trunk. The two help a lost child find his way back to his parents, then they travel on together towards the town. In Alfield, the group find themselves at the Candleglow Inn where they are enjoying a pleasant evening. They are interrupted by boisterous miners who have found a chestful of gold in a nearby mine. There is a celebratory atmosphere until, one by one, they begin to become paralyzed, one by one. Even the barmaid who took their gold is frozen. Moments later, spectral shadows appear and attack the inn, whispering "Give it baaaaack." The party manage to defeat the spectral forms with relative ease, with the aid of a half-elf in a Crownsguard uniform. After, the half-elf introduces himself as Bryce Feelid , the Watchmaster of Alfield. He laments that the small contingent of Crownsguard in Alfield have been depleted due to threats of war on the eastern border to Xhorhas. He offers the party 300 gp if they can help figure out how to save the paralyzed villagers. The party accept, and prepare to rest for the evening before heading to the mines after a night's rest.
