Crimson Spears

The Crimson Spears are the standing army of Sanguine Keep, located in the Dorwine region. Although headquartered in the Western Ring, they have slowly gained power and influence due to the expansion of their parent organization, the Crimson Syndicate.

Structure

As a mercenary company, the Crimson Spears are rigidly organized and promote their soldiers due to experience and success on the battlefield. Leading the entire army is the mysterious lord known as the Bloodbound. He rules from Sanguine Keep, and sends his lieutenants into Aecenys to fight his campaigns. They are structured as follows:

• Darkhand - Commands full divisions of troops, as well as command the magical regiments who often operate outside the structure of the Crimson Spears, such as the Vriqor.
• Arlance - Head of small scale military campaigns, which range from patrolling for caravans and protecting medium sized cities. They also typically lead the very elite regiments of the army.
• Spearhar - Senior soldier with some veteran experience on the battlefield. They are usually seen leading assignments such as protecting and escorting merchant caravans.
• Stalwart - Recruit who passes any training, but holds no authority within the army. Effectively serve as the grunts of the Crimson Spears, but still an effective and well-trained soldier.

History

Founded in the war torn region of Dorwine, the Crimson Spears were originally members of the Dorwinian military who defected and joined with the Crimson Syndicate. After serving as guards and escorts of their merchant caravans, the syndicate established itself as its own organization, led by the Bloodbound. In its infancy, the Crimson Spears served as protectors of trading camps and villages surrounding the Sanguine Keep. However, as they found success, the thirst for expansion followed.
