Flow Stabilizer
Description
A Flow Stabilizer is a device that the Dwarves of Reshyk use on all of their technology to prevent the build up of excess Flow in an enchanted item from becoming unstable and causing the item to crumble to dust. These are necessary for items powered by Flow Cells, because you can theoretically just keep plugging in new Flow Cells, giving you an endless number of charges. The Flow Stabilizer acts almost like a heat sink, rapidly dissipating the Flow build up so that it will not become unstable, whereas a conventional enchanted item takes time to dissipate the built up Flow, resulting in the user needing to wait until the next day to use it again.
The Dwarves are constantly working to improve this technology, to improve its efficiency. Currently, though it is effective and allows them to direct much more Flow through items than normal, it has its limits.
D&D 5E Game Mechanics
Currently, a Flow Stabilizer can only direct a certain amount of Flow through an item, but it dissipates much quicker than normal. At current levels of development, a Flow Stabilizer used on a wand, for example, could allow the wielder to effectively give a Wand of Fireballs 15 charges instead of 7, and instead of crumbling to dust when you run out, it will overheat and not function until it cools. It requires about an hour to cooldown before it can be used again. As long as you have Flow Cells to power it, you could repeatedly cast Fireballs with impunity. The item still, however, can only produce spells up to level 7, as that is a limitation of the enchantment itself.
