Mournstead

Mournstead is a small coastal town situated just south of Lighthaven on the coast of Lake Ginbac. The area surrounding the town is extremely flat, making it ideal for farming and agriculture. Mournstead is known throughout the region for its fertile soil, which produces some of the finest grains and vegetables in the realm. The townsfolk are a hardworking and close-knit community, proud of their traditions and the rich history of their town.
Despite its peaceful surroundings, Mournstead has a dark and grim past. The area around the town was once the site of a great battle that took place between two warring factions over a hundred years ago. The town was founded as a memorial to the many soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict, and the area around the town was designated as a mass graveyard. To this day, the town holds an annual remembrance ceremony to honor the fallen soldiers and keep their memory alive.
100 miles off the coast of Mournstead lies a small artificial island prison called Shielnass. The prison is home to only the most dangerous prisoners in the realm, who are sent there to be kept away from society for life. The prison is surrounded by treacherous waters, and only a select few are ever allowed to visit the island. The people of Mournstead live in fear of the prisoners, knowing that their town is so close to the prison.
The town is governed by Lord Berkestaff, a half-elf man who has been in power for centuries. He is known throughout the town as a kind and generous man, who has saved the town from countless disasters over the years. Lord Berkestaff is deeply respected by the people of Mournstead, and they look up to him as a wise and just leader.
Despite the many challenges and dangers that the town faces, the people of Mournstead are determined to make the most of their lives. They are a hardy and resilient people, who have learned to live with the constant threat of danger from the prison. They take pride in their work, and in their ability to survive in a harsh and unforgiving world.
