House Eladel (HOUSE ELL-UH-DELL)
Summary
Prior to the Kathayan Rebellion, House Eladel ruled over the city of Erdwadi and its surrounding settlements. Its history could be traced back to centuries before the Reckoning, when Kathaya was still part of Buern. This noble family had always had a strong relationship with the Kathayan Royal Family, with several marriages between the royal family and the Eladel family. After the rebellion, the family still remained in good standing with the royal family and its former archduke was even elected (in an underhanded manner) as the representative of Kathaya in Miliim when the federation was established in the western nation. This allowed House Eladel to return to prominence despite having been stripped of its nobility, though it lost its power again in 294 when the Kathayan Constitution was successfully amended and the nation's parliament unseated House Eladel to instate their own Duke of Marrigwani. After the Kathayan Rebellion
House Eladel was once a renowned noble household in Kathaya, though it was rendered defunct after the establishment of the Kathayan Constitutional Monarchy in 193. Despite this, House Eladel maintained standing with the Kathayan Royal Family even after it was stripped of its nobility. Thus, when the Federation of Miliim was established, the Kathayan King hastily appointed the former Archduke of House Eladel as the Kathayan representative in Marrigwani without consulting parliament, since it wasn't explicitly stated in the Kathayan Constitution that their king could not elect a representative for the federation. This move was met with a great deal of dissent, but it took several years for the Kathayan Constitution to be successfully amended and for the King of Kathaya to relent and remove House Eladel from Marrigwani.
The process of amending the constitution to include parliament's ability to appoint representatives had been long and challenging, especially as much of the populace was apathetic toward the issue... until the year 293, when Ali Eladel IV became Duke of Marrigwani and espoused incredibly violent pro-Fainarran rhetoric. While Kathaya had always been allied with Fainarr, opinion of the kingdom had been low for many years--lower still after Leonov's War. The idea that Kathaya's representative was so violently pro-Fainarr that he would publicly call for war with Aldurstein (something Ali IV mentioned often) was so abhorrent to the populace that riots erupted in the streets, and the king was forced to relent to parliament, finally allowing them to amend the constitution and appoint their own representative.
When Ali Eladel IV was unseated in 294, House Eladel--the last noble house of Kathaya--was dissolved completely and dishonorably, with so much loathing from the Kathayan populace that the family did not feel safe returning home. The newly appointed Duke of Marrigwani, Asad Sayed, extended a gesture of goodwill toward Ali IV and allowed him and his family to be considered Honorary Nobility. They would be Earls in Marrigwani but would not be permitted to make decisions that affected the nation. Ali IV accepted this offer, but he and his family have resented House Sayed.
In Miliim
This changed with Ali Eladel IV's appointment, as the nobleman had extremist, violent ideologies. Specifically, he harbored a great deal of hatred for Aldurstein and its people. This hatred would be his undoing, as the people of Kathaya refused to stand for it and once again threatened rebellion. After a few months of riots in the streets calling for the constitution to be amended, the King of Kathaya relented and allowed parliament to amend the constitution by the year 294. A new representative was appointed and House Eladel was reduced to Honorary Nobility, with Ali Eladel IV serving as a nearly-powerless earl in Miliim.
