Kingdom of Kathaya

The Kingdom of Kathaya was established when Buern was divided into two nations as part of a peace agreement with Fainarr in 1 PR. In 193, a rebellion turned Kathaya into a Constitutional Monarchy, overthrowing the dukes. The people were then able to elect mayors in each of their cities once every ten years, who then in turn chose two individuals to serve on the Kathayan Parliament as Representatives, to be chosen again when a new mayor was elected. The King--who was permitted to still hold some power and status--was beholden to the decisions of the Kathayan Parliament but did have the authority to influence those decisions and was invited to either be present at senate meetings or to send his own representative to do so. The Kathayan Constitution dictates the authority held not only by the parliament but also by the royal family. The establishment of the parliament lead to dismantling the previous banner system, eradicating the multitude of banners that flew across the kingdom and uniting everyone under a singular, new banner. This banner features a black pyramid and an upside-down maroon pyramid in front of it, intended to signify the control of the kingdom's parliament over an overturned royal family.
