House Sayed (HOUSE S-EYE-EDD)

Summary

House Sayed is a new noble household, created by the Kathayan Parliament after they successfully amended the monarchal constitution to allow them to appoint their own representative for the Federation of Miliim. They created House Sayed after much deliberation, eventually choosing the son of a parliament member to lead the new household. It is, technically speaking, the only officially sanctioned noble household associated with Kathaya, though it has no power in Kathaya itself, on Miliim. Because it was created explicitly to represent Kathaya in Miliim, House Sayed has no Kathayan Banner, only a Miliim banner of maroon and orange. House Sayed is also strongly controlled by Kathaya's parliament, though it has some autonomy. The knowledge that, at any moment, Kathaya could remove the house's nobility and create a replacement house helps keep the house members in line.

In Miliim

House Sayed only exists in Miliim, with no Kathayan counterparts (other than relatives who are not considered nobility back home in Kathaya. The house is essentially an honorary noble household, with no real royal bloodline within its people. It was established in 294 and has persisted since, though there is an ongoing threat that the Kathayan Parliament could be dissatisfied with the performance of House Sayed and replace it, dissolving their nobility and forcing them to return to Kathaya as regular folk. This helps to keep the members of the house in line with the views of the Kathayan Parliament on a consistent basis. While any representative can technically be unseated by their appointing nation, such a decision would have drastic consequences for the members of House Sayed, uprooting them from their home in Marrigwani and stripping them of rank and title.
