Once a Pangaea called Haven, before the event known as the Ascension, the world of Haven held all life and environments. Now it has been separated into five continents, of varying sizes and diversity. While each of the five continents of Aerith hold a few geographical features, none of them hold them all, except for the continent of Starhelm. Swamps to the west, hills to the east, and a mountain chain that runs north and south just east of centre of the continent; forests to The North and south, with desert and harsh rocky steppes to the northwest. Salted and barren lands comprise a good portion of the middle section, and the massive ruins of its once greatest city, Starhelm City, stands like a blight in the centre of it all. Once, this land was thriving with trade and reached out to all the four corners of Aerith . Those were times past. Now, there are only two major Human cities left, currently cut off from each other, except for the bravest and most daring who make the journey. The Human people of Essillion lie content in their mountain valley, protected from the predations of the Goblins, The Fallen, and the Undead of Starhelm City. They trade happily with the Dwarves and Halflings, their long-time allies, never yearning for the sea to the east or west of them. They are rich in ore, iron, gold, silver, electrum, even adamantine. They trade also with the Elves and the Gnomes to The North. They keep their traditions as old as the birthing of the Human civilization. They are slow to embrace the modern world of Starhelm. In vast contrast to the Essillionites, lies Avandar, the port city to the west. Once a great harbour and touchpoint for all the continents that come to Starhelm, tragedy struck Avandar when it was ripped from the continent by the cataclysmic events of The Fractioning. Cut off from its mainland, Avandar struggled to feed itself. In order to survive they endured many lean years and have within them the fire and passion to live and succeed. With their recent success in recapturing Brightwave, their lost harbour fortress, the Avandar people are at a crossroads now. Do they reclaim their lost heritage and come back to the continent, or do they travel out to the sea, and reforge friendships long since abandoned?
