Count Gerhman Steitz

An oft ill described Count, Gerhman Steitz ruled over Marzich during the events of the Fireborn Invasion. Taking the throne as a young man he repelled an Eivurni attempt to invade and the Fireborn that came after. He was known as a ruthless tyrant and murderer for his orchestration of the Feast Day Massacre which saw the execution of his sister and brother-in-law during a peace conference. Though he would survive the ensuing counterattack his forces were greatly weakened forcing him to spend much of his rule reforming a loyal guard.
Following the Fireborn Invasion Steitz began a grand cull of all his enemies both among the peasantry and the nobility raising towns of those believed to hold sympathies to the ground. The only dissent that dared emerge came from the church and most notably the influential prior of the Groshick Priory. Furious of their arrogance Steitz ordered the destruction of the priory and the murder of all those within it. This began the events of the Black Cloth Uprising that would see the death of Gerhman, his eldest son and the division of Marzich into the County of Westenmarzich and the Priorylands of Estenmarzich.
