King of the Vistani

Though a nomadic people the title of 'King of the Vistani' has emerged at several intervals throughout history. It's holder wields less power than that of a traditional king instead being recognised as a protector or spokesperson of the culture with expectations that the Vistani should broadly obey any reasonable call made by their king.
The most famous claimants of the title are the House of Zarovich. The first King of the Vistani was King Strahd Von Zarovich who was granted the title after his life was saved by a caravan after a war with the natives of Barovia. Pledging that the Vistani would forever be safe, able to travel as they will and live free of taxation within his land he was named their leader. The title held through his vampirism due to his honouring of the oath but would transfer to a descendent of the House of Zarovich through Madam Eva, his half-sister, on his death.
