The Riverlands

The Riverland, or Three Rivers, is a borderland between the Unified Duchies of Istria and Empire of Celium. It was situated around three rivers and comprised of a range of counties and contested by the two states for its fertile land, gold mines and access to one another's land. 
For most of history the region was divided between the two until the end of the First Age when the Unified Duchies of Istria captured the land in the wake of its unification with Empire of Celium into the Karaklese Expanse by Profundis Rax.
