Lord of the Hills

The Widows War showed Requiem that rule exclusively through the nobility of the Hilt does not work. And so the 4 Lordships were created.    The Lord of the Hills is an appointed position, handed out by the ruling monarch of Requiem. Though anyone can be the Lord, it is often given to those of noble or higher class and/or those from political families. The ruling monarch has the power to select the lords as they see fit, and can dismiss them at will. When a monarch is replaced, the new monarch often takes stock of the current lords and makes changes.    The Lord of the Hills rules from Oldstone Keep in Duskdrift, and controls the territory west of the Half-Hand river and south of Silent Tower, with one of the largest territories under their control. The Hilt and its surrounding area do not fall under the rule of the Lord of the Hills.    The Kysten family has held the position of Lord of the Hills for 5 generations, and although Oldstone is the traditional seat of power the last few Kystens have resided in Sunperch within Lakeacre.
