Arkhyros
Just as Faerie is the counterpart of Shaoghal, Arkhyros is the counterpart of Irkalla. Arkhyros is a land of death and disease, where very few truly living beings exist. Of those few, most are Fae who were banished from Faerie.
Geography
The whole of Arkhyros is awash in necromantic magic. The source of this magic is unknown, some believe that it was originally Eldritch magic, and some believe it to be its own type of magic entirely. Regardless of its origin, it is now entirely separate, and cannot even be used by any creature who is not one of the undead of Arkhyros.
Large parts of the land are comprised of diseased flesh and ancient bones, with pools and rivers of various bodily fluids dotting the landscape. Those parts of the landscape that are actual land are mostly barren.
Fauna & Flora
Because of the magic covering Arkhyros, whenever any living creature dies, it is raised into an undead creature quite soon afterwards. These creatures are typically feral, but creatures with a strong natural connection to Magic, such as Fae, will retain their intelligence, although their memories will be lost. In addition, they will retain their ability to use magic, although it will be the magic of Arkhyros rather than the magic they had while alive. Feral undead will slowly grow in intelligence over time, until they become sapient and gain the ability to use magic.
Those few undead with the ability to use Arkhyran magic can, among other things, control the mindless undead, cause necrosis, shape the flesh of the undead, reanimate corpses, and shape the massive corpse-flesh that comprises much of the land. Undead raised by the environmental magic will be independent unless Arkhyran magic is used to control them, but can break this control if they gain sapience. If a user of Arkhyran magic raises a corpse, the resulting undead will be loyal to the one who raised it, even after gaining intelligence.
Plants are few and far between in Arkhyros, and most of them carry diseases or toxins that are fatal to the living. However, those same diseases and toxins often have beneficial effects for the undead, such as healing, temporary increases to physical attributes, or simply causing pleasant sensations. A knowledgeable herbalist can use these to create various types of medicines, drugs, and poisons.
