Faerie
Faerie is best known as the realm of the Fae.
Geography
Faerie and the other side of Aevorea, known as Shaoghal to the Fae, are best described as two sides of the same coin. They are largely identical, yet are extremely different from one another. The largest immediate difference is in the air. The air in Faerie is often described as smelling faintly sweet to Shaoghalan visitors. Conversely, Fae who visit Shaoghal often describe the air as smelling a bit acrid.
While the basic geography of Faerie and Shaoghal is identical, centuries of different weather patterns and different civilizations have resulted in the details of the geography being quite different, with many landmarks not existing in both places, or even existing in different locations in each world. Those who have made extended visits have often said that navigation would have been easier if the land had been completely different, rather than having the illusion of familiarity.
History
Obviously, one of the largest differences between Faerie and Shaoghal is political. While Shaoghal was recently united under one Imperium, Faerie has for centuries been divided under two banners: Seelie and Unseelie. These factions each control roughly half of the continent. However, the divide in this case is not merely political. There are significant cultural differences between the Seelie and the Unseelie, as well as physical differences. As such, the divide between the two runs extremely deep. It is incredibly rare for a Seelie fae to live in Unseelie territory, and any individual in such a situation would quickly find themselves shunned by all around them.
