Gorgon

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gorgons have a humanoid torso, arms, and face, slit pupils, a snakelike-lower body, and a multitude of small snakes where most humanoid creatures would have hair. There are two fangs in a gorgon's mouth, one on the right and one on the left, facing downwards. A gorgon can petrify a living being just by looking them in the eye. The amount of time this takes depends on the size of the target. An average Human would take forty five seconds to immobilize, and a minute and a half to fully petrify. A fully petrified being does not die, and remains aware of their surroundings. This petrification can be reversed at will by the gorgon that inflicted it.   A gorgon's snakes can be controlled directly by the gorgon or can be left to act independently. Any of these snakes can reach about a foot away from the gorgon's head. These snakes can inject a paralytic with their bite, which completely immobilizes a target and lasts roughly two and a half hours.

Ecology and Habitats

Gorgons typically live underground.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gorgons are omnivorous, and are quite adaptable.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Gorgons have above-average eyesight, can detect nearby movement through vibrations in the ground, and are otherwise average.    In addition to their normal senses, gorgons can take advantage of their snakes' senses, granting them a greatly enhanced sense of smell and additional sets of eyes, which allows for a field of view up to 360 degrees, and the option to use infrared vision, which essentially allows them to see temperatures.
