Imp

Imps form the lowest caste of Devils. Imps are slaves, and are often quite envious of those in the higher castes. Mistreatment of imps is quite common, and it is not unheard of for them to perish as a result. Such treatment is legal in the Principality of Inferna, although most owners of imps try to avoid such outcomes, mostly because it is quite wasteful.
According to legend, imps were created from the byproducts of the creation of the other Devil castes.

Anatomy

Imps are small bipeds that typically have sharp teeth and claw-like fingernails. They also have small, bat-like wings.

Genetics and Reproduction

Imps reproduce sexually, and are viviparous. Their gestation period is ten months.

Ecology and Habitats

Like most Devils, imps most often live in volcanic areas. They have a high heat tolerance, but only minimal resistance to fire.

Imps are carnivorous, and are not very adaptable.

Imps are a slave caste among Devils. Because of this, it is not uncommon for imps to form work contracts with mages in other planes, because they typically get easier work in a more hospitable environment, are treated better, and sometimes even get paid. Because these contracts are typically made in secret, an imp's previous owner will sometimes seek retribution for what they see as a theft. However, many don't consider a single imp to be worth the effort.
