Infernal
Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
Like almost everything else in Irkalla, Infernal culture is generally quite harsh and unforgiving. Public methods of punishment for crimes, such as pillories, are common. Deals and contracts are of utmost importance, and reneging on them is considered a great offense. Finding loopholes in contracts, however, is not considered a bad thing to do; Infernals believe that it is the contract writer's fault for leaving loopholes in the first place.
Slavery is quite common in the Principality of Inferna. All Imps are slaves, and there are also many non-devil slaves, usually those who sold themselves in contracts or prisoners of war.
Common Dress code
Infernal clothing tends to be minimal. Clothing decoration is common among nobility, even if it impacts practicality. Clothing decoration tends to be common, but less ostentatious among the middle castes, and is uncommon in the lower castes.
Art & Architecture
Infernal structures are typically made of the same dark stone that covers Inferna.
Sculptures are the most common form of art.
Funerary and Memorial customs
Infernal funerals typically consist of lowering the deceased into one of the lakes or rivers of lava that are common in Inferna. Eliouds are typically placed in a sarcophagus resembling them, which is placed upright in the lava. If any of their slaves died at the same time, their remains are cremated and placed in the sarcophagus. The higher plebeian castes are simply placed in the lava. Shedim and Se’irim are skinned and mummified, then placed in lava, and Imps are skinned, butchered, then tossed in.
Common Taboos
Reneging on a deal or contract is one of the worst crimes among Infernals, and people who do typically lose all legal protection, meaning that it is legally impossible to commit a crime against them.
Ideals
Relationship Ideals
Relationships among Infernals are typically between members of the same caste.
