Soul Leech

A soul leech is a type of creature that lives in Somnium.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Being a creature without a physical body, a soul leech does not have an anatomy in the typical sense. A soul leech starts off as a simple wisp of energy, unable to do much. As a soul leech feeds, it grows in power and intelligence, becoming able to shape itself into various forms, typically based upon what it sees in the various dreams that it visits. The more a a soul leech grows, the larger and more complex forms it will be capable of taking. Eventually, one of three things will occur:

• The soul leech will become a Beluaso.
• The soul leech will become a Noctero.
• The soul leech will become a Ephialte.

Genetics and Reproduction

Soul leeches are created by fragments of Souls that travel to Somnium permanently when people die. Over time, these fragments are attracted to each other, and when enough of them come together, a soul leech is formed.

Dietary Needs and Habits

As the name implies, soul leeches feed on Souls in Somnium. Soul leech attacks are rarely dangerous, usually only resulting in the victim waking up feeling less rested than usual. These attacks typically cause unpleasant dreams, which are also more memorable than usual. The circumstances when soul leech attacks can be dangerous are:

• If something else is attacking the Soul simultaneously.
• If the Soul was previously damaged (e.g. by soul-splitting).
• If the soul leech has become a Beluaso, and attacks the same target repeatedly over a long period of time.
• If the entire Soul is in Somnium instead of just a piece of it (although in these cases, the Soul will likely be much stronger than the soul leech).
