Trechend
A trechend is a bird-like creature of Faerie
Basic Information
Anatomy
Trechends are very large birds with three heads. They have the ability to "breathe" fire by ejecting a powerful accelerant from their mouths, then igniting it with their beak, which can, when closed with enough force, produce a spark. They are also quite resistant to fire themselves, especially around the head and neck.
Genetics and Reproduction
Trechends reproduce sexually and are oviparous. Their incubation period is four months and their eggs are typically laid in clutches of two to five.
Ecology and Habitats
Trechends tend to prefer warm and open areas, but at least a few can be found almost anywhere in Faerie.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Trechends are carnivorous and are not adaptable. They are known to attack people, typically in flocks. Oddly enough, they typically hunt smaller prey alone.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Trechend glands are used to create Trech-bottles. Aside from this, their meat is considered a delicacy, and their feathers are sometimes used for arrows, particularly those used by the higher classes in Selríocht.
Average Intelligence
Trechends are not sapient, but some of their behavior, such as their hunting habits, suggest they have more intelligence than most animals, enough to adapt their tactics for different kinds of prey.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Trechends have above-average senses of hearing and sight and are otherwise average.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Trechends typically have a mixture of red and orange feathers, and copper-colored beaks and feet.
