Kingdom of Marlund
History
Around the beginning of the 4th century AF two factions began to rise in southeast Amruth: In the northern riverlands cities that had been destroyed and abandoned during the fire were rebuild and resettled, finally unifying as the Kingdom of Mara. On the eastern coast a large port city founded by the Lunidian tribes called Fallstrim had become rich by trading with the Kingdom of Ayel and began to expand inland. Nearly a century of war between these two emerging powers dominated the region. But outward pressure forced them to band together as both the Alean tribes to the north as well as the free city of Henderend weakend the Marans and the Lunidians. In 426 a political marriage between the Queen of Mara and the Duke of Fallstrim marked the beginning of a process that led to the unification of both territories under the Name of the United Kingdom of Mara and Lunidia. Over time, this Name was repeatedly shortened until it evolved into "Marlund".
