Golden Shields

The elite guards of Goddess-Witch, her golden shields are always ready to protect her in any way possible. Some are locals, while others came to serve her from distant lands. But what all of them share is an extreme zealotry towards her. It is not unusual to hear about some of them attacking someone off-duty just because they heard them saying something negative about their goddess.

Uniforms

Golden shields wear white robes with Black Colorful threads sewn into them that both protect their wearers and increase their physical capabiilities. There are also tons of golden elements on their uniform's chests and arms, merely for aesthetic purposes. As their name suggests, all of them are equipped with large oval golden shields and their basic weapon is a golden gunspear. The few of them who are Color magic casters will also have threads in their clothes that will enhance the Colors they are capable of using.

Recruitment

Every few months, a recruitment for a role of a golden shield is held in Sacra Magica. These tests change every time and are both extremely demanding and brutal if failed. Every so often someone dies during one of such recruitments. Still, watching them is quite an entertainment both for the crowds and the Goddess-Witch herself.

As the doors to the Grand Temple closed behind Ray L, he looked at its ornate frame and moved his hand across it. He thought about how much effort must have went into making it.
"You should leave," a voice stopped him. "The Grand Temple is off-limits before Goddess-Witch leaves it.
"I know," he said, his arm dropping down. With that gesture, all colors started to drain from his body, trickling down off him. He looked at the guard bearing the golden shield.
"It's... It's the Gray mage! Sound the alarm!" he readied his gunspear as his companions joined him in formation.
The Gray mage sighed. He pointed at the door and all the Color drained from its frame, making it collapse, blocking off the only exit on this side of the building. The Colors stopped in the air before hitting the ground and formed needles. Before any of five golden shields reacted, they were already impaled by them. Gray mage passed their corpses and went down the stairs that led into the deeper parts of Grand Temple. Parts where only the "Goddess", her priests, and her guards could enter.

Since Golden Shields can come from different countries and city-states, a lot of them can use vastly different weapons, equipment, and fighting styles. This makes it harder for any would-be assassin to be sure what to expect. Some are even skilled casters, knowing both offensive, defensive, and utility spells.
